The major components of PMP certification cost are exam fee, training fee, study material expenses, and practice test simulator cost. Out of these, PMP exam fee is charged by Project Management Institute (PMI) and it is standard all over the world. Other costs vary with country.

Out of the components mentioned in the previous para, PMP exam fee and training cost are the most expensive components for attaining the PMP credential.

In UK, the exam fee is £416 and training fee can vary between £250 to £1500. An online training can cost as little as £250 but a live training can go up to £1500 and sometimes even more than that.

1. PMP Exam Application Fee

PMP exam can be taken only after registering yourself on the PMI website and paying the application fee.

You can apply for the exam after taking PMI membership or you can directly apply for the exam without becoming a PMI member.

To become a member, you will have to pay a membership fee and joining fee of £96 and £7 respectively. It is beneficial to become a PMI member as PMI gives a discount on exam application fee to its members. The non-member examination fee is £416 but, for members, it reduces to £304.

2. PMP Training Fee

A 35 Contact hours of project management education is mandatory for taking the PMP examination.

A good training can cost anywhere between £250 and £1500. It can become the most expensive element of your total cost. It varies with the training institute and type of training that you choose.

You can enroll into an instructor-led live training or self-directed online training. A live training is generally much more expensive than an online training.

In UK, a good live training can cost between £800 and £1500. On the other hand, a good online training can cost between £250 and £400.

3. Practice Tests

6. Re-examination Fee

After your application is approved, you are allowed a maximum of three attempts to pass the exam. In an unfortunate circumstance, if  do not clear the exam you can take it again. For each attempt, you will have to pay re-examination fee.

The re-examination fees is respectively £205 and £280 for members and non-members.

7. Certification Renewal Fee

The PMP certificate has to be renewed after every three years. There is a formal process for renewing the certificate, which involves paying a fees of £45 and £112 respectively for members and non-members. You do not need to remain a member for all three years to renew your certificate. You can either take membership in the third year or just pay the full renewal fee to renew the certificate.
